The midlife crisis men and women! It can hit us at any age really, but it will always be described as the same thing. It’s not all about materialistic things, and the stereotype for men is that they will buy a big fast car. And, perhaps go for a younger model than their wife or partner and simply go a little out of their mind. The stereotype for women is similar except it probably involves a lot of shoes and handbags. However, the reality can be far more different than that. It’s more to do with a love for yourself over anything else.
When you get to the bones of your midlife crisis, the chances are, there will be something that has triggered the thoughts and the negative emotions. Perhaps a comment someone has made about your weight. Or, maybe an issue financially or within work can bring up a feeling of a self-loath. It may sound drastic, but anything can really start us off to think negatively about the way we look and feel for ourselves.
The truth is, how we see ourselves has a great impact on the rest of our lives. Feeling happy in your own skin can only help you to feel better within other aspects of your life. There are many things you can try, for example, a juice detox, a reduced calorie diet, or even join a group where you monitor the foods you eat and gain encouragement at weekly weigh-ins.
Most of the time, your relationship to food can be the cause of the problem so try and analyze your eating habits. Do you comfort eat all of the junk and sweet stuff when you are feeling down? Do you overload your plate in the evening and have an issue with portion control? Having a healthy balanced diet and sticking with it will always be a slow process. But, it can certainly be the healthiest and offer long-term results.
Exercising is good for the soul
Many people associate exercise as part and parcel of losing weight. But actually, it can be much more than that to some people. Exercising regularly improves your fitness levels and stamina. And, over the course of that can also be an aid to losing weight. So it is always going to be worthwhile to incorporate some regular exercise with a well-balanced diet.
However, exercise can be great for other things we can feel during a midlife crisis such as anxiety, depression or a low mood. It can be as simple as putting on your workout leggings and heading out for a walk in the fresh air. Maybe going out for a run a few times a week. The fresh air combined with the intensity of an increased heart rate can actually be a great resolve for negative feelings. So the next time you feel down, get outside and exercise a little more.
Mindset over matter
Your mindset plays a big role in how you feel on a day to day basis. Midlife crisis men and women can often stem from some form unhappiness in your life. So try and work out, where those feelings of negativity are coming from and tackle the issue once and for all. A change in mindset can be massively positive and can help you on your journey to feeling more energetic and losing weight. Which again feeds your mind with good and happy feelings. As you start to become more content with the way you look and feel. It is a circle of thought process and one that you need to focus on being positive rather than negative. It might be hard at first, but like anything, it just needs to become a habit.
Finally, other things you can do to aid in these three areas would be to focus on your sleep. Need getting a better quality sleep at night. This can help you feel better when you wake in the morning and help with increased energy and concentration levels. Drinking plenty of water and taking some time out for yourself would also be advised. Overall, if you focus on yourself and the areas in which you want to feel better about, you will find that this crazy stage of your life will begin to vanish just as fast as it appeared.
